PloppSL has been a easy to use program for awhile now for the land with the hand. OLG also supports sculpts so this program will work for OLG creations as well. It won't likely get you professional or complex sulpts but you can make some cool and cute things by drawing it in the program then converting it. The WIN and MAC premium versions run in demo mode but you can unlock them for $19.50 US if you like them. That price includes all themed versions of the program (one serial unlocks them all).

There is a great video tutorial on Shiney Time by Vlad that can get you started.

The video tut is a little outdated. PloppSL is now available for Windows and MAC and Linux. Templates only available for Win and MAC though.

lol, this is great - it saves 2 files, one which is the sculpty and the other the texture overlay - so you can use just the sculpty map if you want and apply a texture inworld. The saves are as .jpg - but just open them in a converter and make them .tga before bringing inworld.

Be aware that the program creates a sculpture map with a seam along the vertical line and it's not terribly smooth, but I've made some useful rock shapes immediately which will serve some good purpose.

Will experiment with more and see if I can figure out how to smooth off the surface.

Love it....
Cool, Shai. :) I had not thought of rocks and other organic creations.

There is a SL version (that will work with OpenLife of course)

HERE. :)

I think it is still free.
Yep, it was the SL version I was playing with - and will play with some more.....
.... I'm thinking tree bits, building blocks for my ruins etc. It also occurred to me that I could make things like hand-drawn sculpty letters and stuff.

will be fun playing...
Yay great programs.
If i may add one more sculptie program then try this http://kanae.net/secondlife/rokuro.html
Its really great making all kind of sculpties :-)
Ops direct DL-link http://kanae.net/secondlife/rokuro104.zip

Grt post Mac....... and Mayi the Rokure one, even I can use this one....... hehehe :-)
Great program, Mayi! Thanks for posting it.

If anyone else has programs, tips or whatever feel free to contribute. :)
Bum - it's for PCs (Rokuro) - little suggestion - if you're going to put software stuff up, maybe if you can tell if it's Mac/PC or just one or the other, you can add that to the post - saves all the excitement followed by 'awwww bum'.

:)
For Shai and all other Mac users - here's the link to the Mac version of Rokuro > Here

(From Digital Dreambuilder)

I have created a venue where OLPC developers or educators can meet in a virtual environment, regardless of their physical location on the planet - the OLPC Centre on the Openlife Grid.

The Openlife Grid is a virtual world (Opensim architecture) that allows people to meet and interact in a virtual environment. In that environment your presence is represented by a character on screen (avatar).

I am opening up the OLPC Openlife center as a place for any OLPC and XO developers and educators to meet. Although the location is virtual the immersive experience of 'being present' is there.
